THE MINISTER of Works, His Excellency Abdallah Ulega, has called on the Contractors Registration Board (CRB) to take action against negligent contractors who cause losses and impacts to the Government and citizens by not completing projects on time.
Speaking today during the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Construction Stakeholders held in Dar es Salaam, Minister Ulega stressed the important role of local contractors in national development.
"Local contractors must come forward. They have a major role in driving the country's economy and improving the lives of the community," Ulega said.
He also stressed the need for professionalism in the construction sector and commended some local contractors for their patriotic commitment and timely completion of public projects.
According to the Tanzania Contractors Registration Board, delays and cost overruns are among the major issues in the construction sector, which are often attributed to poor planning, lack of capacity and failure to meet standards by some contractors.
For his part, the Managing Director of Specialised Engineering (T) ltd SETL, Mr. Arun Gottipati, affirmed his company's commitment to partner with the Government of Tanzania to meet the infrastructure needs of its citizens.
